Palette Perfection: Plum Perfect

The FGs are here to tell you that getting married in December isn't a mistake (unless you choose the 25th). The only mistake some brides make with a winter wedding is their palette. If you're a winter bride, skip the whole red and green cliche, and try something elegant and nontraditonal. We are really feeling plum, tinsel, and a little fuchsia for your grand affair.  Touches of green (think artichokes) are a gorgeous accent to this palette.

Fabulous FG Friday Cocktail: Italian Eggnog Martini

When we saw this recipe on Cooking with Sugar, we *had* to try it!
Trust me when I tell you this drink will warm more than your heart.

Italian Eggnog Martini

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Disaronno (other Amarettos will work)
  • 1 oz vodka (pick your favorite brand, Vanilla Smirnoff is a great choice)
  • 2 oz store bought eggnog
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Cinnamon
  • Brown sugar
  • Caramel syrup
  • Candy cane and cinnamon stick for garnish (optional)

Directions:  (Pictures of directions can be found on Cooking with Sugar's site.)

Coat the inside of a small plate with caramel syrup, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Dip the rim of a martini glass in the mixture and spin back and forth and all around until the whole rim is coated. Place the glass in the freezer.

In a shaker with ice, add the eggnog, vodka and Disaronno. Shake for a minute. Remove glass from freezer. Place one maraschino cherry in the bottom of the glass.

Pour mix from shaker into glass and sprinkle with cinnamon. Garnish with a candy cane and a cinnamon stick.

Palette Perfection: Glitz and Glitter

Sequins and sparkle are all the rage right now. Seems everywhere we turn someone has added a little sparkle to their outfits. That's every reason to dust your big day with a little bit of glitter. This inspiration board should convince you to have a gilded affair especially if your wedding falls in the months of December and January. This is the point where we usually tell you how to do it and what not to do, but in this case we say the more the merrier — even your wedding day manicure can show off a little bling.

Real Wedding: Gina + Gabe

Meet G2, otherwise known as Gina and Gabe. Getting to know couples, experiencing the new things, and seeing the unexpected are all reasons we truly love what we do.  The couple included so many cultural and personal details, that the day truly was reflective of them.  A traditional wedding ceremony, Korean Tea Ceremony, a Groomsmen choreographed dance, a Bridesmaids and Groomsmen dance off, and Zumba for all the guests were all a part of their special day. The day was filled was so much awesomeness, let me show you the day through the eyes of Sunny 16 Photography.
*Love* Gina's shoes!

The Groom & his Groomsmen practice their surprise dance for the reception in their "ready room."
First Looks are a wonderful way for the couple to have a special moment prior to the ceremony to ease nerves AND get to take pictures.  It allows for the grandeur of the special entrance, but gives the couple time to spend with their guests during the cocktail hour.  The couple usually has some very intimate pictures captured during first looks, because they have the room to themselves (and the photographer and videographer.)

The Bride's four brothers took turns as they walked her down the aisle.  The four of them jointly "gave her away."  It was very emotional as each brother passed their sister's hand to the next.

The family picture in the pendant on the Bride's bouquet was a sweet surprise, and a very special way to include her deceased father.

The bride danced with each of her four brothers.

The Korean Tea Ceremony requires the Bride to bow in a painful way to each of her elders/mentors.  The woman on the far right of the picture is assisting the Bride bow and stand.
The elders toss chestnuts and dates for the couple to catch as a wish for fertility.

The groom & his groomsmen performed a surprise dance during the reception.

The couple came out with a choreographed dance to "introduce" Zumba to the reception.  Two Zumba instructors got everyone involved.
